The international hit streaming television series The Chosen has now completed filming of its most recent season and continues moving forward with unprecedented success as the largest fan-supported entertainment project of all time. In a mutually beneficial strategic partnership with The Salvation Army's Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian, Texas, The Chosen has established a permanent home in North Texas. A multiyear land lease on 900 acres of the camp's facility provides the landscape needed to believably represent biblical locales while also housing necessary production facilities.
Working on site for the past nine months, CRC Construction built a state-of-the-art, 30,000-square-foot soundstage, the first such facility built in Texas for a single purpose. The adjacent complex is comprised of additional space designated for set design and creation, customized wardrobe and costume design, hair styling and makeup application, prop storage, and more including comfortable star bungalows. The company has also constructed an authentic first-century biblical city production set depicting the town of Capernaum that spans the area of approximately two football fields side-by-side. Other historically accurate recreations allow the show's producers to create elaborate scenes set in ancient Rome and other biblical locations.
Currently translated into 62 languages and viewed over 408 million times worldwide, this multi-episode television drama is a global phenomenon which captivates audiences with its stunning cinematography, superb acting, and compelling storylines portraying the authentic life and ministry of Jesus as seen through the eyes of those who met him. Now, according to The Chosen creator, producer, and director Dallas Jenkins, the honeymoon phase is over and the characters all have to deal with the costs and occasional confusions of following the Messiah.
Produced by Loaves & Fishes Productions and distributed by Angel Studios, The Chosen has garnered praise from critics and fans alike for its historical and biblical accuracy, genuine humor, and disruptive impact. The faith-based series has consistently ranked in the top 50 entertainment apps on iOS and Android. It was the No. 4 searched show across Roku in 2021 and continues to be a top-searched show across streaming platforms. All seasons are completely free to watch with no fees or subscription dues necessary by downloading the app, viewing online, or tuning into the Angel app on TV. The fan-supported series is voluntarily funded by viewers who make the personal choice to pay it forward
after viewing.
